Cape York Hotel

No mistaking this venue for a pub, but PubSpy found that their speciality is their great steaks and come served with vegies or salad which are all created from selections of the best of the local produce. Icy cold beers, and affordable pub style food and a drive through bottle shop are all on offer.

At 3.30pm on August 17, 1987, a storage cylinder carrying about 40,000 litres of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at a nearby facility caught fire and exploded - creating the most disastrous LPG explosion in Australian history. The hotel was extensively damaged in the tragedy and was rebuilt to its original design by the owner and reopened as The Cape York Hotel in November that year.
